Testimonials
A testimonial from Assistant Principal Amanda Richards – The Brooklyn Brownstone School
It has been a pleasure working with Ifetayo Cultural Arts Academy. The African drumming residency was a tremendous success with our first grade students, who looked forward to each session. What made the program especially meaningful was that students learned not only how to play the instruments, but also about the history and cultural origins of the music.
Brother Aaron was a true partner throughout the process. He was responsive, easy to reach, and a pleasure to work with. The culminating showcase was a wonderful celebration of student learning that was very well received by families, and our students had an incredible time.
In addition to providing high-quality programming, the Ifetayo team has been an outstanding community partner. When we were seeking collaborators for grant proposals, they stepped in and made the process seamless. Their professionalism, fair pricing, and commitment to supporting schools make them an invaluable resource.
We look forward to continuing our partnership with Ifetayo and bringing additional programming to The Brooklyn Brownstone School in the years ahead. I highly recommend them to any school or organization seeking engaging, culturally responsive programming and a dependable community partner.
Testimonials
A testimonial from Assistant Principal Shavon Jeffries – P.S. 92
For more than five years, our partnership with Ifetayo Cultural Arts has been a true gift to the students and families of Mighty 92. Through experiences in Samba, Capoeira, Ballet, and other art forms our students have had the opportunity not only to develop artistic skills, but also to see themselves, their histories, and their cultures reflected in meaningful ways.
The programming helps students explore the rich history of the African diaspora and understand how its influence continues to live in the music and movement of today. What stands out most to us is the transformation we witness in our students over the course of each semester. By the time of the culminating performance, even our quietest and most reserved students step confidently onto the stage and proudly showcase talents they may not have realized they possessed.
Ifetayo’s commitment to culturally responsive, African-centered arts education aligns deeply with our mission of ensuring that all students feel seen, valued, and empowered to embrace who they are and who they can become. We are incredibly grateful for this partnership and the lasting impact it continues to have on our school community.
Auditions for IYE are held each fall.
